NYCanaries Chairman Justin Koplin says that the general belief of the supporters group is that Glenn Roeder ‘had to go’.

‘The New York Supporters Club comes in all shapes and sizes, but the general belief is that Roeder had to go,’ he said. ‘He lost the fans from the moment he arrived, mocked the fans at the AGM and the board could no longer cover for him.

‘I think one of our members (Bigus) summed it up best on the very popular blog Unprofessional Foul.

‘I think our members would like to see Malky
[Mackay] come back as an assistant under either [Aidy] Boothroyd permanently, or maybe someone like Graeme Souness for a year before taking over the reins himself.

‘Mark Robins sounds good – it is always nice to have ex-Canaries on board – but there is some debate over whether or not need someone with Championship experience, or, if we believe our players to be a good enough, a motivator (which Roeder was not) to get the best out of them.

‘Personally I feel better about NCFC than I have for a couple of weeks, and I can’t wait for Saturday – I have a feeling we will give Barnsley a drubbing’.
