Norwich City have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Grant Hanley reports Press Association journo, Nick Mashiter.

Nick has been right on so many matters Norwich City this summer that his twitter account @nickmashiter makes for essential following as a City fan.

This afternoon, Nick has tweeted the following:

“Norwich have agreed a fee with Newcastle for defender Grant Hanley #ncfc #nufc”

If true, it would then be down to the club and player to discuss and agree terms on a deal.

With Hanley highly unlikely to be named in Newcastle`s Premier League squad for the first half of the season on September 1st, he will only get to play first team football if he moves.

It`s sounding likely.

Of all the players Rafa signed, Hanley was probably the biggest disappointment. A lot of the other outcasts were either not brought in by him (Haidara, Saivet, Riviere, De Jong, etc) or brought in to do a job a level down and then told to move along once the task was completed (Murphy, Sels, Lazaar). Hanley I always had higher hopes for, but he either completely fell apart or spent the last 4 seasons at Blackburn fooling everyone into believing he was much better than he ultimately was. Either way it’s best for all involved that he go back to the Championship
