Norwich Are About To Sign Arsenal Midfielder And The Mayor Signs On Again

Norwich City look like they have their second summer signing just around the corner after reports from Scotland suggested that Arsenal starlet, Charlie Gilmour is about to join the Canaries’ Premier League adventure.

Gilmour is 20 years old and he’s a rather talented defensive midfielder. Things haven’t worked out for him at Arsenal though as he’s found it very tough to break into the first team – as you would.

A product of the Gunners’ youth academy, Charlie made two appearances in the Europa League last season but has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League.

It could well be that Gilmour is being seen as the long term replacement for Alex Tettey, who has just one year left on his current contract and with age against him, looks unlikely to sign on again.

Gilmour has played for Scotland at U15, U16, U17 and U19 levels but was surprisingly released at the end of the season along with Danny Welbeck. It’ll be interesting to see if the lad can force his way into the first team squad this season, although he’s surely joined for the prospect of Premier League action.

In other news, Kenny McLean has signed a new three year deal with the Canaries, joining the increasingly long list of players to have signed new deals this summer.

The Mayor of Norwich had a great end to the season, having missed the first four months with injury but he’s another great asset for the squad. I watched him play for Scotland against Belgium last week and thought he was excellent.

Good news.
