Norwich Defender To Miss The Next Six Weeks

|

Norwich City Captain, Grant Hanley will miss the next six weeks due to injury, Daniel Farke announced at his pre-Middlesbrough press conference at Colney this afternoon.

The news is a massive blow to the squad and is particularly bad timing when you consider that Norwich entertain Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough tomorrow.

Pulis is, of course, known for his physical approach to football and one thing you can be always sure of when you face a Pulis side is that there will be an aerial assault to deal with.

What this does though is offer an opportunity to another player to step into the Captain’s boots and stake a claim for a starting place in the first team.

The most obvious candidates to replace Hanley are Ben Godfrey and Christoph Zimmermann, who have both had to wait patiently for their chance.

At halftime in the Canaries’ last match, when Timm Klose had to go off injured, Farke turned to Godfrey to replace him and that could well give us an indication of what will happen tomorrow.

Make no mistake, this is a hammer blow but as one door closes another opens, with whoever is picked having a great opportunity as well as an ordeal by fire to cope with in their first game.
