Norwich City Are Looking For a New Managing Director

|

Norwich City’s Managing Director, Steve Stone has started indefinite leave and did not attend the 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Saturday, reports the Eastern Daily Press.

Stone has become a very popular and approachable member of the Canary hierarchy since moving up from Finance Director to interim Chief Executive following David McNally’s resignation and then again, in the days after the removal of McNally’s successor, Jez Moxey.

Stone stood in during that interim period and presided over the change of coaching/recruitment processes that we now have as well as the appointment of Stuart Webber as Sporting Director. When handed the new role of Managing Director, he was also given a place on the Norwich board.

Stone has always fronted up to the fans at various open fan forums and I’ve only ever found him to be approachable, honest and engaging.

It seems to me that he has been good for Norwich City and responsible for a lot of the best things that have happened during the restructuring after Premier League relegation, loss of parachute payments and a complete change in coaching philosophy.

There’s no word yet from the club on the reasons behind this move or whether it’s simply come from the man himself looking to move to a different position in another club or area of employment.

With the EDP breaking this, this morning, I imagine it won’t be long before the club makes comment though.
