Norwich City Duo Win Prestigious Awards Double

|

Teemu Pukki and Max Aarons have won a prestigious double for Norwich City after being named Championship Player of the Season and EFL Young Player of the Year respectively at Sunday night’s 2019 EFL awards ceremony in London.

Both lads also made the EFL team of the season, although Jamal Lewis missed out on that one. All three had already been named in the Championship team of the season.

Pukki beat Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp and Birmingham City’s Che Adams to the award after he joined the club last summer in easily the club’s best free transfer ever and arguably, the best free transfer of all time.

So far, Teemu has scored 26 league goals and managed 9 assists in an astonishing season and remember, he’s still got six games left to play, so he could yet add to that tally.

Luton Town’s James Collins took home the League One award, while Tranmere Rovers’ James Norwood won the League Two award.

Meanwhile, City took home another award as Max Aarons won the EFL Young Player of the Year award, beating off competition from derby County’s Harry Wilson and Luton Town’s James Justin. This was a public vote, so well done to all of you who voted.

Max has made 35 appearances for the Canaries after making his debut in the EFL Cup against Stevenage and then scoring his first goal in the 3-1 EFL Cup at Cardiff, both last August.

He made his league debut in the white hot atmosphere of the East Anglian Derby at Portman Road in September and literally hasn’t looked back.

He and Jamal Lewis are the best two fullbacks in the Championship and that was reflected when both, along with Pukki, were named in the  EFL Championship team of the season.

Well done, fellas!

ON THE BALL CITY!!!
