Norwich City In Five Club Scramble For Proven Forward

|

Norwich City are reportedly in a five club tug-of-war for the signature of Dutch winger, Rajiv Van La Parra according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old is a player likely to be well known to the Canaries’ Sporting Director, Stuart Webber as he spent time at Wolves  and Huddersfield Town during Webber’s tenure with those two clubs.

Van La Parra was a regular in the Huddersfield side that won promotion to the Premier League in the 2016-17 season and he also played a crucial part in keeping the Terriers in the English top flight in the following season, scoring 3 goals in 33 league appearances.

However, as it all unravelled at Huddersfield, Van La Parra fell out of favour and saw his game time limited. After a short loan spell with Middlesbrough, he moved to Serbian side Red Star Belgrade for a reported €1.2m in September 2019.

After just a year in Serbia though, where he made ten appearances and scored one goal, it seems that Serbian life just wasn’t for him and he has come to an agreement with Red Star in which his contract has been ended by mutual agreement. Blackburn Rovers, Swansea City, QPR, and Millwall are all also credited with an interest.

Predominantly a left winger, he is quick and good on the ball and according to The Mail, he’s someone that City are interested in. The price, after all, is right.

Not really a forward and if we were to sign him as a forward I’d be worried – I think he has like 8 goals in the last 200 games :-).

He is normally used as a winger but I am not a fan. Thanks but no thanks.
