Norwich City are set to sign Luton Town defender, Akin Famewo according to HITC Sport.

The 20-year-old central defender has spent the first half of this season on-loan at Grimsby Town with what was a season-long loan being cut short by Luton after the Hatters have seemingly accepted an offer from  Norwich City.

Famewo played for Luton’s first team aged just 17 in 2016 and he went on to play 8 times in last season’s promotion season.

The powerful 6’2” tall defender has made 12 appearances for Grimsby this season and I imagine that they will be pretty disappointed at how this is panning out.

HITC’s Pete O’Rourke writes that Norwich have a long-held interest in Famewo and that he is likely to join up with the U23s initially, rather than being an immediate first team option.

The link between Luton and young prospects is starting to become a bit of a thing now. Jamal Lewis was born in Luton and Max Aarons joined from the Hatters’ Academy in 2016.
