Norwich City To Sign Tim Krul

|

In a rather surprising turn of events, Norwich City are set to sign former Newcastle, Ajax and Brighton goal keeper, Tim Krul, according to HITC Sport.

The 30 year old is a free agent after his one year contract at Brighton expired and he is keen on regular first team football. This means that Krul will obviously be a free transfer and only cost the Canaries the player’s salary and I have to say, he has been some player in the past.

Quite what has happened in the last few years though is a bit of a mystery. I can remember him being a superb goal keeper for Newcastle, after signing from ADO Den Haag in 2005.

I was slightly surprised to see that he is only 30 years old as he seems to have been around foreverĀ  but there you go.

Krul is also a Dutch international with 8 caps, the most recent of which came in 2015 and he has 160 Premier League appearances for the Magpies under his belt too.

He’s a big name player for who the last few years have been disappointing and he’s clearly looking to get back to playing regularly. What this does do though, is spell trouble for Remi Matthews and Michael McGovern.

Both of City’s current senior keepers have made mistakes on the trip to Germany and the arrival of Krul looks likely to provide stern competition for them. So much so, that one may well have to go out on loan.

In terms of how likely this is to happen, HITC Sport have an excellent record of providing accurate transfer speculation, so watch this space for another signal of intent from Stuart Webber.
