Norwich Complete Belgian Defender Signing

|

Norwich City have announced the signing of Belgian defender, Rocky Bushiri.

The 19-year-old is an excellent prospect and is predominantly a centre back. He will join the Canaries on July 8th on a four year deal, meaning that he’s contracted to Norwich until 2023.

Rocky will go into the U23 development side, no doubt with one eye on the first team. He joins us from Belgian top flight team, K.V. Oostende where I think I’m right in saying he was only on a “Youth” contract, meaning that only Youth compensation is due to Oostende, which is usually a lot less than if a player had previously been on a professional deal.

The lad spent last season on-loan with K.A.S. Eupen where he made 33 appearances and scored one goal.

This is another excellent example of the Canaries raising the standard of their U23 squad. The news this morning, that City appear to have agreed a deal for Partick Thistle winger, Aidan Fitzpatrick, coupled with the signings of Archie Mair from Aberdeen and Daniel Adshead from Rochdale, mean that things are looking good for the future.

Should the club receive offers for players in the future that they can’t refuse, then the plan is to make sure that there are young, hungry superstars in the making ready to come through.

It’s the club’s plan and for a self-funding outfit like Norwich, it’s the only way in the foreseeable future that the club will be able to support itself.

Welcome to Norwich, Rocky!
