Norwich City went five points clear of second placed Leeds United and crucially, seven points clear of third placed Sheffield United, with a 1-0 battling win away at Middlesbrough.
Plenty Of City fans and pundits alike are saying that the Canaries now have one foot in the Premier League and with just seven games to go, it’s hard to argue with that.
It’s definitely firmly within our own hands now.
With both our automatic promotion rivals playing at home, it seemed likely that both Leeds and the Blades would keep their promotion bandwagons rolling against Millwall and Bristol City respectively, however Leeds were given an almighty scare by Millwall and the Blades lost a wheel from their wagon as they finally lost a game.
It’s very much been a case of who blinks first in the Championship promotion race and the Canaries are steely in their determination to get over the line.
A Norwich City player finally scored a penalty as Ben Marshall scored from the spot to put Millwall 2-1 up at Elland Road. The winger is on-loan with the Lions and had the Canary nation excited for an away win until Leeds managed a late come back.
At Bramall Lane, Bristol City gave the Blades an almighty shock as they ran out 3-2 winners, blunting their challenge.
So what’s next?
Well, I said with twelve games to go that we needed to win eight of those to earn automatic promotion. We’ve won five games in a row since I said that and with two home games against QPR and Reading up next, followed by a trip to Wigan, it’s entirely possible that it could be done, or at least my target could be, very soon.

'Going Up, Going Down' stat of the day
Since Onel Hernandez's last goal before today, in the East Anglian Derby on February 10th, Norwich City have picked up as many points (24) as Ipswich Town have accrued over the course of the entire season #ncfc 🔰

And that is seven wins in a row.
It's not been done by Norwich City at this level since the title run-in in 2004.

Pullis has ruined #Boro. It’s 2019 and his best idea is still long throws. Thank Farke that’ll never be the #ncfc way.

Amazing win for #ncfc today. I doubted my sanity coming to this game as the wind and rain swept around the ground before kick off, but it was worth it. Yellows! pic.twitter.com/7n60W5TYTb

Love this #NCFC team, and its ability to go to grounds that can be real graveyards of promotion pushes and still win. Millwall ✅ Leeds ✅ and now Middlesbrough ✅ 🐎 💚💛

#ncfc have played so much delicious, free flowing football this season and scored so many outrageous goals. And they have also dug in to show incredible character and guts.

Farke spent £4m in the summer & has created a #ncfc side that are a pleasure to watch & get results. One dimensional hoof ball merchant Pulis spent £20m & created a #boro side that stink out every ground they play at. Rank bad managerial appointment by steve Gibson #borolive #EFL

Moment of mirth from Wilder on a difficult afternoon. Questioned about his side's game, with Boro v Norwich on the TV in press room in background and breaks off.. 'Norwich should have scored there, thank **** they didn't.' #twitterblades

Love seeing other clubs praise our football & support. A lot of praise from #Boro fans adding to a lot of admiration for us this season. 3 of these 4 happen to be Villa fans. Still time for #TwitterBlades to snatch it & I thoroughly hope they do now 🧡💚 #NCFC #AVFC #LUFC #SUFC pic.twitter.com/zMj11dZ9Qd
