Norwich Hold An Interest In Bundesliga Striker

|

Norwich City hold an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach striker, Josep Drmic according to German sports media giant, Bild.

Bild’s report doesn’t stretch to much more than a sentence on their Transfer Ticker linking the Canaries to Drmic who is a Swiss international and will presumably know Timm Klose but there are several things that make me think this fits the City bill.

Drmic is 26 and joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for a reported €10m fee but he has not made a big impact.

He stuttered through an injury hit 2018-19 season making only the final five matches of the season, although he did manage 2 goals in those 5 appearances.

Drmic did also play in both of Switzerland’s Nation’s League games last week. He has 32 appearances for his country with 10 goals scored but missed his penalty against England.

Don’t read too much into that though because Teemu Pukki scored 29 goals last season and not a single one of those was a penalty.

The big thing here though is that Drmic is out of contract this summer and according to Bild, he seems likely to move on a free transfer.

It’s hardly a big stretch to see that the Canaries’ recruitment team would be interested in a player of this pedigree with Bundesliga and international experience who is available on a free transfer.

They moved for a player in a similar position last summer, a certain Teemu Pukki.

One to keep an eye on, I’d say.
