Norwich Interest In Prolific Striker Valued At £6m

|

Finally, Norwich City have been linked to Peterborough’s prolific striker, Jack Marriott.

It’s a link that most of us on the Vital Norwich forum have been hoping for now for a while, as we all desperately hope that our club won’t let us down and that they will actually sign a bone fide goal scorer.

Marriott would certainly seem to be the real deal, after bagging 33 goals for Peterborough in League One, last season.

The lad is, of course, untried in the Championship but he had no problems in making the step up to League One after signing for the Posh from Luton Town.

This link comes from the Mirror Transfer Blog  with the entry you want being at 17:24hrs and it also links Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City to Marriott.

It also suggests that Posh have slapped a £6m price tag on their man, as they attempt to get top dollar for the lad.

To be fair, that price has been bandied around quite a bit lately, although in the current market, he’s likely to be worth it. In an interesting twist, Marriott is an ex-Ipswich Town academy player, having made three appearances for the Tractor Boys before moving to Luton for free in 2015, where he spent two seasons before making the move to London Road, last summer.

Marriott made 54 appearances for Luton in two seasons, scoring 29 goals, which earned him that move to Peterborough before last season’s heroics.

This lad is the right age, at 23 and he’s just had the season of his life. He will be hungry to take the next step and to my mind, he’d be a great buy. There are, of course, very few certainties in football transfers but although £6m is a lot of cash for Norwich City, right now. If it’s realistic, I’d go for it. Ahead of any Jordan Rhodes deal too.
