Norwich Keeping Tabs On Greek International

|

Norwich City are still watching Greek international winger, Giorgos Masouras according to reports in Greece via Sdnr.gr.

The 26-year-old has been mentioned several times over the last few months by various media outlets with the suggestion being that he is clearly a player that Norwich hold an interest in and have watched regularly.

Canary scouts had a perfect opportunity to watch him again on Thursday night when his current club, Olympiacos took on Arsenal in the Europa League at The Emirates stadium in North London.

As you may have read, Arsenal were beaten by an Olympiacos goal in the final minute of extra time, knocking them out of the competition, meaning that the likelihood of the Gunners playing European football next season is slim at best. That would be the first time in a quarter of a century that they wouldn’t be competing in Europe.

Masouras started the game on the bench but came on in the 77th minute, striking the bar with a curling shot late on. He only joined Olympiacos from Panionios last summer and has been a regular in the first team squad for the Greek giants, making 38 appearances and scoring 6 goals, so far. He has 11 appearances for the Greek senior side, having scored 1 goal.

He is valued by Transfermarkt at £1.8m, so should be affordable, whatever league we are in next season. Having said that, I suspect that a player who is used to European football and nights like Thursday night at The Emirates, might take some persuading to drop into the English second tier.
