Norwich Linked To Chelsea And Watford Midfielders And Then There’s Jordan Rhodes…

|

Norwich City are clearly looking to make a late move for a defensive midfielder with two more new names being added to the list overnight.

City are being heavily linked with Sevilla’s Ibrahim Amadou at the moment and this link has some substance behind it, having been reported by Spanish media outlet, Estadio Deportivo.

There is talk of salary, a loan-fee and an option to buy in that one, and due to the source, it does strike me as looking as though it has some legs.

In other news though, City have been linked with two other defensive midfielders in the shape of Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater and Watford’s Nathaniel Chalobah.

The Daily Mail are reporting that City, along with Brighton have enquired about outcast Drinkwater and that they have also enquired about Chalobah, who cost Watford £5m from Chelsea a couple of years back but who spent the majority of last season injured.

The link to Ibrahim Amadou looks to be the most likely with no real detail anywhere on the web about Drinkwater or Chalobah. Drinkwater is likely to be on mega money at Chelsea and at 29, he perhaps doesn’t fit the dynamic of the City squad.

In other news, the links to Jordan Rhodes continue aplenty, here’s one example of the type from footballleagueworld.co.uk.

Norwich have said all summer that they would like to re-sign Jordan but that he would be too expensive as Sheffield Wednesday value him too highly, so it’s not likely.

However, with the transfer window closing on Thursday though, a game of who blinks first sounds like it’s taking place.

Rhodes was an unused substitute for the Owls at the weekend as they started the Championship season off with a 3-1 win away at Reading. He’s costing them somewhere between £40-50k per week and they’re not even playing him, surely they want him moved on?!

As the days and hours count down, City will keep their fingers crossed that there is no other interest and that Wednesday come back to the negotiating table. The sort of salary Rhodes is on will surely mean there are no enquiries from the Championship.

Looks like the next three days could be busy…
