Norwich City have finally been linked with a central defender!

Hurrah.

This is the first real defensive link since Celtic’s Virgil van Dijk many weeks ago and suggests that Alex Neil will strengthen his back line.

The Sunday Express have linked Norwich with West Ham’s James Collins.

The 31yr old has played two spells at Upton Park and had three years at Aston Villa inbetween. A regular under Sam Allardyce, Collins has dropped down the pecking order at Upton Park with Slaven Bilic signing Italian defender, Angelo Ogbonna.

This news comes on the back of a story in the Sunday Mirror that reports Sheffield United are keen on taking City’s Michael Turner to Bramall Lane.

The 31yr old has yet to make the bench this season and with just a year left on his contract would seem ripe for a move. Ryan Bennett has been the defensive sub so far, although The Mirror suggest Turner would rather not drop down two divisions to League One.

Turner spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham and scored in the Cottagers 4-3 win over Middlesbrough, a result that effectively condemned ‘Boro to the play-offs and ultimately a Wembley defeat at the hands of Norwich.
