Football may have been suspended due to the Corona virus breakout but, of course, there is still plenty of footy related talk doing the rounds and, naturally, transfer rumours.
The latest to surround Norwich City links the Canaries to Gillingham central defender, Jack Tucker.
Tucker is 20-years-old and he had been enjoying a breakout season with the Gills before the cessation of the game.
This report in the Daily Mail suggests that Norwich City, along with Southampton, West Ham and Leeds United have been watching Tucker, who can also play at full-back, and he has made 28 appearances for the League One side, managed by Steve Evans.
The Mail report that, like many EFL clubs, Gillingham are struggling financially due to the loss of match day revenue caused by COVID-19 and that the Gills are in discussion with the PFA about the way forward. The Gills have been able to defer their PAYE payments for March to enable them to pay salaries but, like many lower league clubs, that isn’t going to be sustainable by just doing that for long. The Mail reports that they would like the transfer window to be opened now to enable them to sell players to ensure the club keeps going.
I imagine that there will be many clubs in this position with promising young players that would doubtless move on to bigger clubs in the summer anyway, so what not help them out now?
The longer the virus sees us all locked down, the more difficult it will be for many businesses, including EFL clubs.

Good news for Smiffs who can spend the vast percentage of transfer fund on claret before the shelves start to empty completely. Having said that I suppose deliveries from Harrods will not be greatly affected.
