Norwich Linked To Defensive Midfielder While Another Has A Decision To Make

|

Norwich City are reportedly tracking Hannover 96 midfielder, Marvin Bakalorz according to FussballTransfers in Germany and reported here by the EDP.

Hannover 96 have just been relegated from the Bundesliga and Bakalorz has been their Captain but he is out of contract in the summer and seems likely to be leaving Hannover with Freiburg and Augsburg also interested in the combative defensive midfielder.

He’s 29 years old and joined Hannover from one of Daniel Farke’s old clubs, Paderborn in 2016. He has made 66 appearances for Hannover, with 25 coming this season, although he hasn’t managed to score in that time.

This is exactly the sort of player that I expect Norwich to be linked with this summer. A player with Bundesliga experience and available at a knockdown price, in this case for free.

Much, as ever, will depend on the Canaries ability to persuade the player that his future lies in England rather than continuing in the Bundesliga, where he will clearly have options.

The Premier League is a big pull for players though and the chance to play on the biggest stage of all is a tough one to turn down, especially at the age of 29.

We’ll see…

Meanwhile, another reported Norwich City target, Rekeem Harper has been offered a new contract with West Brom with no word yet on whether he’s going to sign it.

Harper is 19 and out of contract this summer and having already not signed his new Baggies contract offer, it’s not a stretch to think that the player might want to first, see where the club would be playing next season and second, see who the new manager will be.

This is just one of a number of rumours that we brought you in last weekend’s Transfer Round-Up.
