Norwich City have made a ‘substantial offer’ for Wolves striker, Benik Afobe according to Sky Sports this morning.
Afobe has been on fire since joining Wolves from Arsenal last January and has scored 14 goals in 23 appearances. I have to say that this is promising, the 22yr old is 6′ tall, quick and very powerful – he’s a real handful and would be the most likely reason that Alex Neil was at Molineux at the weekend rather than watching Nikica Jelavic.
Afobe fits the ‘young and hungry’ type of player that Neil has previously suggested he likes to sign rather than Jelavic who is reportedly on £55k a week at Hull without being too prolific.
Kenny Jackett has warned potential suitors off Afobe saying ‘bids are not welcome’ but we all know every player has a price and money talks.
We’ve already had one Wolves fan on the site about this who went into a rant and got abusive – football is a business and fans shouldn’t get emotionally attached to players. Wave a big pay cheque and the number nine shirt in the Premier League under a players nose and you will often turn heads.
It’s up to clubs if they wish to accept a bid or not.
We’ll see but this lad is a great prospect.
