Norwich Midfielder Joins Dutch Side On Loan

|

Savvas Mourgos is set to join Dutch Eerste Divisie side, Dordrecht on loan.

Mourgos will spend the whole of the 2018/19 season with Dordrecht, who finished 13th in the Dutch second tier, last season.

The Dutch second division was a happy hunting ground for Todd Cantwell last season, as he spent six months with Fortuna Sittard and helped them to promotion to the top flight in Holland.

It seems that loan manager, Neil Adams was happy with that experience for Todd and he has no arranged another Dutch trip for one of our youngsters.

I say “youngsters” but Mourgos is 20 now, having joined the Canaries last season from Arsenal. He spent all his time in the U23 development squad and was a big part of that team, scoring 4 goals.

The loan is set to start on July 1st and will no doubt toughen Savvas up a bit but I’d love to know if this lad is seen as a future first-team player or not. I guess the fact he’s going out on loan is positive and it can only help his career.

However, it is a little disappointing though that he, and others from the U23 squad, are not ready or being considered for the first team at this time. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the various loans, and I understand this is the first of several that will take place this summer, will only improve our lads and get them ready for the first team.
