Alex Tettey has revealed that he has been made the offer of a contract extension by Norwich City but doesn`t feel it is “up to scratch” reports the Pink ‘Un

The 31 year old is out of contract in the summer has has previously spoken about it not being likely he will stay on beyond that due to the club`s financial restraints but at least the offer of a new deal is progress, even if Alex has rejected that first offer and let`s hope it is only a first offer because he is an important player for City.

“This is me being completely honest now – there has been one offer from Norwich City,” said Tettey, who has predominantly worn the captain`s armband in Ivo Pinto`s absence since the turn of the year.

“We feel like it wasn`t a good enough offer, and that is where it is. There hasn`t been any communication after that, which I`m aware of.

“I really do understand the club`s position. I really understand the way and the direction they will need to go from next season. I understand all of that.

“I`m not a greedy person asking for this or that. I`m not in control. I have people talking to the club and someone getting back to me.”

Stuart Webber will have to weigh up with Daniel Farke, just how important a player is he to the squad? If he`s deemed irreplaceable, then there may be another improved offer but I`m not holding my breath.

He has been at the heart of much that is good about City`s defensive reincarnation this season, since Farke restored him to the team after the Millwall drubbing in August. His destructive style of play is unlike any other player`s in our squad and his job of providing a defensive shield for the defence has been crucial in the defensive turn around.

Money however, decides almost everything in life and especially in football. It remains to be seen how deep the club`s pockets are where a new contract for Alex is concerned and whether he will see his stay with the Canaries continue into a seventh year.

Although I`m not holding my breath, I`d like to see him stay. He`s been a great servant to the club and seems like a top bloke.

Come on Stuart, have a look and see what`s down the back of the sofa!
