Norwich Set To Win Race For Winger

|

Norwich City look set to sign Ben Marshall from Wolves, snatching him from under the nose of Millwall according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon used his Twitter account @reluctantnicko to tweet the following on Tuesday evening.

Norwich and Marshall should happen at £1.5m fee plus good wages. One of three live and British ones for Canaries.”

Nixon is a reliable source of transfer news and doesn’t get much wrong.

Marshall was on loan at Millwall in the second half of last season and impressed Lions’ boss Neil Harris. Harris wanted the former Blackburn man to join last season’s surprise play off challengers but if what Nixon reports is true, then City look to have won the battle to sign him. It would seem likely that Norwich could offer the player a better package than Millwall and as well all know, money talks.

Marshall is a decent, experienced, Championship operator (I seem to remember saying that about Marley Watkins last summer) and can play as either a right winger or right back.

The “utility” style player is something we may see a bit more of with Norwich looking to cover positions in this way, now that money is tight.

I wonder who the other two British players he mentions are?

Jordan Jones and Freddie Woodman, perhaps?
