Norwich City have completed the signing of midfielder, Kenny McLean from Aberdeen the club have announced

The 26 year old can play either centrally or on the left of midfield, has two caps for Scotland and will be immediately loaned back to the Dons for the remainder of the season.

The lad has signed a three and a half year deal with the Canaries for the usual “undisclosed fee”. It`s being reported, depending on where you look, that the fee is between £150-300k.

Many may ask why we`ve done this deal now when he would`ve been free in the summer? Well, it seems to me as though paying a small fee now ensures he`s wearing yellow & green next season rather than any other colour. The loan deal will no doubt have also helped sweeten things for Aberdeen.

With Harrison Reed and Alex Tettey both likely to leave in the summer, this is forward planning.

Welcome to Norwich, Kenny.

  • Clearly there was a lot going on behind the scenes in this one. Heard Rangers had “a strong interest” in the player. Sometimes small fees are required to secure a deal , even wen a pre-contract is an option. Paying 150-300k for one of the top midfielders in the Scottish league seems a decent piece of business. Could as well be considered a signing bonus in terms of the fee.

  • All very true and acceptable as long as there are at least 2 signings to strengthen the attack
who can actually play this season.
