Norwich Suffering Mini Injury Crisis As Winger Looks Set To Miss Three Months

|

Louis Thompson has joined Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan deal, the two clubs have announced.

The 24-year-old midfielder will hope to get back to playing regularly after an injury stricken time in a yellow shirt, so far.

Just like the rest of the first team squad, I imagine that Louis would’ve hoped to earn a crack at the Premier League, hoping to impress Daniel Farke in pre-season.

However, he limped out of the first pre-season game against Arminia Bielefeld, while playing at right-back.

Getting game time is all important for Louis and fingers crossed he can play consistently for the Shrews this season.

In other injury news, Onel Hernandez is Set to miss three months after slipping at home and damaging his knee.

It’s not raining, it’s absolutely pouring at the moment with Christoph Zimmermann, Timm Klose and Josip Drmic all missing out for the visit of Newcastle on Saturday and Kenny McLean a major doubt.

There is some good news though.

Having missed almost the whole of pre-season, Alex Tettey is unlikely to feature from the start but the availability of Amadou and Super Mario is definitely a shot in the arm.

Assuming Kenny McLean doesn’t make it, it would seem likely that Moritz Leitner will take his place in midfield, after his strong second-half showing at Anfield. However, who plays alongside him is another big decision for City’s Head Coach.

Does he stick with Tom Trybull, or does he bring in Amadou? The French enforcer looks like he could be key to City’s season, but he’s only been here for a week, which means it might be a big ask for him to start, or does he go a bit more offensive and bring in Mario Vrancic.

Certainly Mario’s return to fitness is a big boost.

Timm Klose should be back next week and fit to face Chelsea while Zimmermann could return for West Ham if all goes to plan. Speaking more about Hernandez’s freak injury, Daniel Farke is worried that he may have an ACL injury. Let’s cross everything and hope that isn’t the case as that could see him out for at least six months.

It does mean that Patrick Roberts will now be the default Winger now though, although the good showing by Todd Cantwell against Liverpool will also give Farke a headache or two.

Decisions, decisions, decisions…
