A report from Football League World suggests that Norwich City are ready to make a move for Nottingham Forest winger, Michail Antonio.
The powerful wide man joined Forest from Sheffield Wednesday for £1.5 million last summer and managed 14 goals and 12 assists in 46 Championship games, and also won player of the season at the City Ground.
He has two years left on his contract and has been the subject of speculation all summer. Forest’s financial situation is difficult and just this week, Derby County had a £4m bid turned down.
Of course, selling to Derby would be like Norwich selling to Ipswich, so that was always going to be a non-starter. Middlesbrough have also been heavily linked with the player after losing Lee Tomlin to Bournemouth but Aitor Karanka refused to discuss him at yesterday’s press conference. West Brom have also bid but are now believed to be looking elsewhere after seeing several offers knocked back by Forest.
An ‘insider’ at The City Ground has reportedly told Football League World that Norwich are keen on the 25yr old who has, it seems, asked for talks to discuss his future, suggesting he would be open to a move.
I’m always wary of these sorts of stories with an un-named ‘insider’ being the source but that’s what much of the rumour industry seems to run on a lot of the time!
What I would say is that Antonio is a good player and I think he’d be a great addition to our squad.
