Norwich Transfer Rumours – One You’ll Want to Read, The Other Not So Much

|

With January just around the corner the usual raft of transfer rumours are starting to crop up, giving us a general idea of the sorts of players that Norwich might be looking at.

I say that because clubs will make enquiries via all sorts of avenues about players that they are interested in and even if these are dismissed firmly out of hand by the player, his agent an intermediary or the player’s club, these things sometimes then leak to the media.

There are many reasons why that might happen, such as the player wants to move and fancies a bigger club than Norwich or the agent wants a new deal for his player and will use the interest to press his case or, sometimes, the more unscrupulous in that profession might just want a big payday.

Not forgetting, naturally, that there could also be a lot of truth in some of these rumours.

By the time that many of these rumours hit the media, the enquiry, however small, could’ve been knocked back or it could be at the talking point. Whatever the reasons, there are a couple of links here for you.

The first surrounds reported interest in German central defender, Robin Koch.

The 23-year-old Freiburg star is attracting attention after his club’s excellent start to the season, currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga and he is also now a full German international, having played twice this year, including in the Germans’ 4-0 win over Belarus.

There is a snag though, with Leicester City and Wolves both also heavily linked to the lad, as reported here by the Daily Mail.

If either of these two clubs are interested then we won’t be able to compete and a fee of £15m is being quoted, which again, seems too rich for the Canaries.

It does add fuel to the idea that City are looking for a new central defender in January though. Which is what I was getting at earlier.

The other link is one that you won’t like, with Turkish giants Fenerbahce reported by Sport Witness to be interested in a January move for Teemu Pukki.

That will immediately concern the Canary nation but no matter how much money Fenerbahce offer, I can’t see the club selling our flying Finn in this window. Every player has a price, of course, but Fenerbahce surely wouldn’t be able to offer enough to force the Canaries’ hand at this time.

If City were to be relegated, then next summer could be very interesting in terms of the City players that might be ripe for a move away from Carrow Road but with only four points separating us from 17th place, no-one at Carrow Road will be giving up just yet and selling Pukki in January would be tantamount to a surrender.
