One last friendly before the big kick off and it’s against a team that, for a lot of neutrals, deserved to go up last season.

Beaten, comprehensively, by Middlesbrough in the Play Offs, Brentford had confounded all expectations last season by refusing to drop out of the top 6. A little jitter when it was announced that their manager, Warburton, would not have his contract renewed may have cost them the momentum – but they played out two great games against the Canaries. Getting resoundly thumped at Griffin Park 3-0 and then beating us on our own turf 2-1.

This afternoon’s game should be a real opportunity to see if AN has made as big a difference as we hope.

Neil has promised opportunity for Brady and Wilsom and it is likely that The Bee’s new head coach, Marinus Dijkhuizen, will play his new boys too – so expect to see strikers Lasse Vibe and Phillipp Hofmann get a run out.

Brentford have been busy over the summer, always likely with a new head coach and players eager to move on after the disappointment of losing out on a place in the Premier League. They have, so far, brought in six new faces.

For our part, we’re surely likely to play a much stronger side that the one that faced up to The Hammers. Surely AN is past experimenting? I’d be VERY surprised if the team playing the first 45 minutes isn’t the team Neil will be hoping will start against Palace.

The game is being shown live on Mustard TV. We all know what happened on Tuesday night – so hopefully no repeat!
