Norwich v Middlesbrough: The Vital Statistics

Norwich City produced easily their best performance of the season as they took all three points with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Carrow Road.

Tony Pulis’ side were unbeaten when they arrived, having kept clean sheets in their previous five games which had helped take them up to joint first place at the start of play.

The opening 15 minutes saw ‘Boro run the game and City struggle to get too much control of the ball but after that, I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to say that the Canaries fully deserved their victory.

The game was summed up for me by an incident that I watched as I walked up Carrow Hill after the game and a ‘Boro fan and a Norwich fan, both in their fifties, exchanged words as they walked.

The Boro fan’s point of view was basically that his side had deserved to win and that Norwich hadn’t done anywhere near enough to win. It sounded very much like sour grapes to me but the City fan’s response, which he repeated over and over whenever the ‘Boro fan tried to counter, was “YOU ONLY HAD TWO SHOTS ON TARGET, YOU ONLY HAD TWO SHOTS ON TARGET…”

Salty.
