Norwich v Rotherham – Daniel Farke’s Press Conference

|

Norwich will host Rotherham on Saturday afternoon and that means the always welcome return of their Norfolk-born manager, Paul Warne.

Warniola” is a dyed-in-the wool Norwich fan by his own several admissions but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t want to beat us, if he can. Rotherham have played quite well of late and perhaps not got the results they deserved for some of those performances which means they currently sit in 21st place in the table. As I say though, I’ve seen them a couple of times this season and they didn’t look too bad on those occasions.

Anyway, as usual, Daniel Farke has been speaking to the media via video press conference on Friday lunchtime and as usual, Vital Norwich Forum stalwart, FC Bears has been keeping an eye on what was said.

Here’s his take on today’s press conference:

Everyone who was involved on Wednesday is fit and available for this game.

Jordan Hugill trained this week and is fit to return.

Marco Stiepermann has back in training next week. He is playing for the u23s at the moment – I am watching and Stiepermann has been fairly poor so far. 0-0. Omobamidele has been very good as has Nizet. Soto not involved in the game as he now has an injury (a month back at the club and he has an injury).

DF loving Stiepermann, saying he is a top top player at this level and is an outstanding player. DF says we have really missed him……..Have we?????

DF says that you can see how much it means to Paul Warne to play against the club he loves.

DF says we will not rush Hugill back as we have quality in Pukki and Idah – he then says ‘thank god we do’.

DF says that both sides played on Wednesday and Rotherham will rotate their squad but we won’t rotate many players as it could be a risk 🙂 – I think we know it will probably be one player to drop out (Vrancic).

DF says that they have been working on how to deal with how Rotherham like to press. He hopes that we can control the game and score the first goal.

DF says that Hanley and Gibson have been so important but we must not get carried away because they have had help from two defensive players in midfield in McLean and Skipp – Is McLean a defensive midfielder? Also, DF said that two seasons ago we had two attacking midfielders in the central midfield and the central defenders then did well – name the two attacking central midfielders who sat in-front of Hanley, Godfrey and Zimmermann that season…I am sure Tettey, Trybull and Mclean played mostly in the CM role?

DF defends Vrancic and says he is a major player at the club and he and McLean are so good that they swap over during the match and Vrancic also adds magic in every game he plays.

I think DF will go:

Krul

Aarons
Hanley
Gibson
Giannoulis

Skipp
McLean

Cantwell
Dowell
Emi

Pukki

I think DF will play Kieran Dowell instead of Vrancic and that this is the one risk he might well take.
