It seems that Reading are still keen on signing Nelson Oliveira before the end of this summer’s transfer window on Thursday.

Reading are still active and speaking after seeing his side beat Birmingham City 0-2 on Saturday, manager Jaap Stam took the unusual step (for a manager) of speaking about other club’s players in the form of Fulham’s Sone Aluko and Oliveira.

‘Aluko and Oliveira are still on my radar’ Stam told Get Reading

‘We’re always looking for players who can make us better.

‘Oliveira is a great striker – he can be a big asset for us. And it’s the same for Aluko.

‘He is the type of player I think can make the squad better and give us something different. But it’s not up to me.’

The way things are going at the moment, selling Oliveira would just about be the final straw for me.

  • It cannot happen.
We would be left with one striker who cannot score and who is going to sell
us a good goal scorer during last 4 days of window ?
Stam is being totally unprofessional and the crap hole Reading is hardly a
    great destination.

  • It certainly can happen. My bet is that the player would rather be in with a shout of promotion than bolstering a struggling team.

And btw, Reading is not a crap hole; it may not be as ‘fine’ as Norwich, but it has a far higher GDP, better transport links, better employment prospects, better shopping, a better university and currently, a much better football team. Have a nice day 🙂

  • Just been there and it is a crap hole.
Architectural quality very low. Aesthetically dull at best.

  • Selling Oliveira at this point would be an absolute disaster for Norwich. We’d never be able to replace him with only a few days to go and even if we did, it would no doubt be with a Bundesliga 2 lad for about £500k! Must not happen.
