A number of Premier League clubs are reported this morning to be ready to move for Norwich City winger, Josh Murphy according to HITC Sport.
Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham are the subject of this report, with Middlesbrough also mentioned from the Championship as holding an interest in the flying academy product.
Josh scored 7 league goals and provided 3 assists, including the Canaries’ goal of the season against Aston Villa which you can see in the highlights footage below.
The 23 year old was an integral part of Daniel Farke’s first team squad last season making 47 appearances and scoring 11 goals in all competitions. It was really his breakthrough season at Norwich, having watched his twin brother Jacob have a similar impact the season before.
Jacob moved to Newcastle for a reported £12m last summer and with a financial black hole of around £20m to fill, Norwich will probably have to sell some other players than just James Maddison over the next few weeks.
Assuming they want to add to the squad. The reality is that the wage bill still needs lowering. You would imagine that Steven Naismith, Matt Jarvis and Russell Martin are likely to be on the move too, although who’d buy Jarvis isn’t clear to me.
Murphy, Timm Klose and Nelson Oliveira all look likely candidates to make a few quid, as all three have considerable value, should an acceptable offer be made.
Don’t be surprised if this Murphy thing happens.
