So, today there was a stack of press conferences. Here’s our summary from the Norwich & Newcastle camps:

AN confirmed that the international break had come at the wrong time for City after picking up four points from their last two games:

‘The only disappointing thing is that the international break came at the wrong time for us, but hopefully we can pick up where we left off and go into the game to do the job.’ said Neil.

He also suggested that Newcastle needed the win more than Norwich – but we all know that’s just mind games:

‘It’s one of those finely balanced games where I think looking at the table, Newcastle probably need to win the game more than us but it would be an absolutely crucial win if we could go and get it.’

AN suggested that it may still be too early for Nathan Redmond to make any kind of return:

‘I’m just a little bit concerned it might be too early for him.

‘It’s one of those ones where do you risk him for this one but potentially lose him for others if it doesn’t go the way you’d like, or do you maybe delay it for a week and take it from there?

‘We’ll monitor him on Friday and take that decision afterwards.’

AN also confirmed that Ryan Bennett and Steven Naismith were fit and able for selection.

The cliches came thick and fast from AN – here’s my favourites:

‘All the games are going to be important.’

‘This is a crucial time in the season for us and it’s one of those games we really need to try and win, so hopefully we can do the business.’

Over at Newcastle Rafa was also lucid with the cliches – check out these doozies:

‘We still have eight games to play and have to concentrate on one at a time.’

‘We have to work hard from the first minute to the last.’

‘We want to win. We go there to win.’

Rafa confirmed that Karl Darlow will play in goal for the Magpies and that defender Daryl Janmaat has passed fit for selection.
