After last week’s refereeing debacle with Tim Robinson at Carrow Road in the 0-2 defeat to Cardiff, Norwich return to league action this weekend and I think we’re all hoping for a (much) better referee.
This week’s man in the middle and his assistants are:
Referee: Geoff Eltringham
Assistants: Billy Smallwood and Philip Dermott
Fourth Official: Ross Joyce.
Mr Eltringham has overseen 33 Championship and Cup games this season and shown 119 yellow cards and 3 red cards.
Interestingly, his highest showing of the season, which was 9 yellow cards and 1 red was in Preston’s 2-1 win over Bristol City last month.
Geoff has only officiated once over a Norwich game this season, which was the 3-2 EFL Cup win over Swindon at Carrow Road last August, a game that saw him show 6 yellow cards.
Last week, Tim Robinson put on what was certainly the worst refereeing performance I have witnessed at a Norwich game this season. His previous officiating involving the Canaries saw him award theĀ phantom penalty at Hull and he did little better last week.
In case you’re wondering, Birmingham v Sheffield United have the dubious pleasure of his company this weekend.
