Alan Irvine is a candidate for the vacant Glasgow Rangers manager’s job reports the Daily Express
The 58 year old has been Alex Neil’s first team coach/assistant since replacing Gary Holt in the summer and is a rather surprising choice.
Rangers currently sit third in the SPL 6 points behind Aberdeen, with both a huge distance behind leaders Celtic after the resignation of Mark Warburton.
Rangers are reportedly keen to also appoint a Director of Football, which isn’t new to Irvine, who worked under a similar structure at West Brom in 2014 when he had a short spell as manager at the Hawthorns.
Ally McCoist seems to be the bookies’ favourite though.
