Rhodes To Norwich Collapses As City Just Beat King’s Lynn

|

Jordan Rhodes’ proposed loan move from Sheffield Wednesday has collapsed, at least for the time being, over the financial details of the deal.

The Sheffield Star reports that the deal was called off at the eleventh hour after the two clubs were unable to reach a financial agreement, although as the transfer window runs down, it presumably may be possible to resurrect the deal, if Wednesday lower their demands.

Initially, a loan fee of £3m was the big issue for Norwich, and let’s be honest, that fee was crazy. The Star had reported that Wednesday had lowered the loan fee and Radio Norfolk’s Rob Butler had tweeted on Friday morning that he understood that Rhodes was on his way to Norwich for talks.

It all looks to be off again though, at least for the time being.

Meanwhile, last night Norwich City played their first pre-season friendly of the summer and scraped a 1-2 win over Kings Lynn.

Daniel Farke played a strong looking first team squad in the first half, with Matt Gill directing the second half and having a large number of U18 and U23 lads on in the second period.

It was the youngsters who saved the blushes though, after Lynn had gone ahead at the start of the second half.

Having gone behind, Norwich made 9 changes and eventually got themselves back in the game.

Late goals from Devonte Aransibia and highly rated Adam Idah, rescuing the game with goals in the 71st and 73rd minutes.

Phew, relax, put the pitchfork down.
