Ruddy In West Ham Talks

Having played more than 230 times for Norwich City in a seven year stint, John Ruddy will be released at the end of June, making him a very attractive free agent.

I’ve said before that I don’t expect JR to be short of suitors and a return to the Premier League looks nailed on to me. Nothing has been settled of course but it seems that Ruddy has already held talks with West Ham, according to the Daily Mail

West Ham have had an underwhelming season, their first at Queen Elizabeth Park, and goal keeping has been one of a number of issues. The Hammers look in need of a shake up and the number one position is ripe for a new keeper.

Adrian has been the established number one for several years although Darren Randolph has recently taken possession of the shirt. Having said that though, Adrian was back in goal for the 0-4 defeat to Liverpool.

Ruddy is free, he’s proven and at 30 years old, he’s at a good age. West Ham will be able to offer him at least what he was earning at Norwich and probably quite a bit more, as he’s not costing a fee.

JR would no doubt fancy his chances of usurping both Adrian and Randolph to be the number one at the Olympic Stadium and it’s a move I’m sure he’d jump at, if offered.
