Youssef Safri has left Norwich City this afternoon to join Southampton for an undisclosed sum, believed to be around £250,000.

The midfielder was fined and dropped from the squad to face West Ham earlier in the week, after he missed training and was late for the Canaries’ annual photocall.

The Moroccan international has signed a two-year deal at Saint Mary’s after making 90 appearances in three seasons at Carrow Road, scoring four goals.

Peter Grant told the official club site: ‘I’m glad the situation has been resolved quickly.

‘Safs has wanted to leave Carrow Road since my second day in the job and he’s now finally got his wish.’

However, it won’t be too long before City fans get to see Youssef playing at Carrow Road again. Norwich’s first home league fixture of the new season is…

Southampton on August 18.

Get your chants ready everyone.
