Norwich City midfielder, Leroy Fer has today been linked with a move to Spanish side, Sevilla in the sports papers there.
The front page of Estadio Deportivo features Fer celebrating the goal he scored for Holland at this summer`s World Cup with the headline, translated into English, reading: “Faced with the difficulty of closing other deals (like Charles Aránguiz who found it impossible to leave Brazil) Sevilla has its eyes on the Dutch midfielder from relegated Norwich.”
Aranguiz is a Chilean midfielder who played in all four of Chile’s World Cup games but decided to stay with his current club in Brazil, SC Internacional.
Sevilla finished fifth in La Liga last season and also won the Europa League, meaning automatic qualification for this year’s competition. At the end of this season, the rules will change to qualify the winners of The Europa League for next season’s Champions League.
Speculation that Fer will leave Norwich this summer has been rife, despite the player commenting during the World Cup that he is committed to Norwich. QPR are the biggest link with Harry Redknapp denying last week that he had bid for the powerful midfielder but West London news reported that a bid had been made this week.
The competition for Fer just got more intense.
