Norwich City’s U21 Development side crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Sunderland in their first game of the new season.

Three goals in a five minute spell at the end of the first half won the game for the Black Cats with Mandron (2) and Gooch doing the damage.

The hosts played the final 22 minutes with only ten men after new signing, Yann M’Vila who has joined on a season long loan from Rubin Kazan, saw red for an alleged head butt on Jamar Loza after the French midfielder got involved in a spat between Beadling and Loza.

Connor McGrandles had a goal ruled out for offside late on while Josh Murphy scored a late consolation penalty for City.

Norwich City U21s (starting line up): Killip, Norman, Crowe, Coker, Efete, Thompson, King, McGrandles, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Loza. Subs: Oxborough, Ramsay, Grant, Eaton-Collins.
