Swansea Interested In Deal For Norwich Striker

|

Swansea City are reportedly interested in a deal this January for Canaries’ striker, Nelson Oliveira according to journalist Alan Nixon.

This isn’t the first time that Oliveira has been linked with Swansea with a big money offer having reportedly rejected from then Premier League Swansea back in the summer of 2017.

The figures being bandied about then ranged between £9-12m depending on which paper you read. His value now though is pretty far from that, with the Portuguese international having been frozen out of the squad this season.

Nixon used his Twitter account @reluctantnicko to tweet the following: “Swansea keen on Nelson Oliveira, either loan or paid-up free,” tweeted Nixon. “Been there before. Doesn’t seem part of it at Norwich. Probably come down to the player and whether he fancies it.”

Nelson has a strike rate of 20 goals in 70 appearances for City, after his £5m signing from Benfica in the summer of 2016. He only managed 8 in 40 games last season though, managing to score only once, that 30 yarder against Wolves, in the final 22 games of last season.

His value has plummeted and with the player likely to be on a very large salary, as well as not playing, a deal is in the interests of all parties.
