The Invaluable Alex Tettey

|

You will, I’m sure, be as pleased as I am that Alex Tettey decided to put his family and Norfolk over a potential final big payday and sign on for two more years at Norwich.

Tettey’s importance to the Canaries this season can’t be underestimated as the statistics show.

With Tettey P21 W10 D8 L3 F22 A16 Pts38

Without Tettey P24 W5 D7 L12 F26 A39 Pts22

That’s for the Championship this season and as you will probably know, Daniel Farke puts a lot of faith in what the stats tell him. That is the modern way of judging how a player or team are performing.

I think that Tettey’s return to the team alongside Tom Trybull was crucial in steadying the ship in some rocky seas last autumn. The only worry is that both missed large chunks of the season through injury. If next season, they can stay fit then I’m confident that they will be as good as any pairing in the league.

Alex also has an 89% completed pass rate this term, which is the highest of any Norwich player. He wins the ball and gives it short to someone who can really play (no offence, Alex). If he tries to be more ”expressive” in his range it doesn’t work. He knows that as well as we do.

The way that Norwich City have announced the news is also both amusing and a reminder of the character that we have in Alex Tettey. In football as in all walks of life, character and personality go a long way.

Remember the greatest goal he’ll ever score?!

Thank for signing on again, Alex. It just wouldn’t be the same around here without you.
