The Weekend Transfer Round-Up – Defender Links And Interest In One Of Norwich’s Brightest Stars

|

With the January transfer window fast approaching and Norwich City in need of a few new additions, it’s no surprise to see that the Canaries featured heavily in the weekend’s gossip columns.

It would be no surprise to see City add a new central defender to their ranks and there have been a couple of those rumours over the last seven days or so. The first being Freiburg’s Robin Koch and now we can add a new name to the list.

According to a report in Spanish daily newspaper, Diario De Valladolid and reported here by the Pink ‘Un, Norwich are one of a number of clubs tracking Real Valladolid defender, Mohammed Salisu.

The 20-year-old has produced some consistent performances in his debut season in the Valladolid first team which has reportedly attracted the attention of Newcastle, Southampton, Everton, Norwich and Sevilla. With a €12m buyout clause, he’s probably out of our reach though.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager, Dean Smith is reportedly keen on Emi Buendia, according to Sky Sports.

Buendia’s name is mentioned in a report about Villa’s continuing interest in Brentford winger, Said Benrahma a player that Smith tried to sign in the summer but failed due to a £20m price tag. I’ve no doubt that Buendia would cost him more than that and the likelihood of City selling to a team that they are fighting against to stay up seems highly unlikely, at least in January.

Anyway, selling Emi is something that none of us, I’m sure, would want to contemplate at all.
