It`s known as “the silly season” in football and this January is no exception.

Last night came a report from The Guardian that claimed West Ham had bid £12m for James Maddison, a story carried by the EDP and virtually every other media outlet – including us.

Then around 8 hours later we have the news that West Ham have NOT made such a bid and the EDP say there has been no contact from the Irons for the Canary star.

So, what to believe?

Obviously the EDP are well connected locally but I`ve also picked up a little tit bit for you from elsewhere.

Twitter account @ExWHUemployee, who have a track record of being right when it comes to West Ham, tweeted this last night:

“Just checked we have not made an offer for Maddison”

Either way, it seems we may be safe for now from the Premier League vultures but everything I wrote last night still stands.

I fear it`s just a matter of time before a richer club than us comes knocking for Madders.

  • He won’t care if the money is tasty, and it’s bound to be far more edible than what he collects here. I would be surprised if he remains a city player after Jan.

  • Maddison is different. He wants to play his Football and has a passion for it. A player who likes being the heart of the team in order to fully realise his potential, currently Norwich and Head Coach Farke -who believed in him- is the perfect club for him. If he leaves, it will be at least Tottenham.
