Three Big Players A Doubt For Norwich Against Watford

|

Norwich City are back in the Premier League and now they want to win the title to make it a perfect season for the Canaries.

They have four games left and next up are the only other team able to win the title, Watford, who were relegated along with Norwich last season from the top flight. Naturally we’re all hoping that it happens tomorrow night, live on Sky Sports or iFollow but even if it doesn’t, City will have three more cracks at it with the three final games against QPR, Reading and Barnsley.

They may have to do it without three big players though after Daniel Farke announced his some injury doubts at his pre-match video press conference.

Teemu Pukki, Grant Hanley and Todd Cantwell are all doubts for the game and Farke also explained that the club have appealed the red card shown to Dimitris Giannoulis against Bournemouth:

(Giannoulis) “We have appealed it (the red card) but he will definitely miss one game. There are a few doubts. Thankfully, Grant Hanley was able to finish the game but his ankle was pretty painful and swollen and we hope that he is available. I had to substitute Teemu Pukki after a hit on his knee and he is a major doubt for tomorrow and there is a doubt about Todd Cantwell. I hope all three will make it tomorrow, but there will some late calls.“

So, if those four lads are all missing then our Head Coach will have some decisions to make.

I would assume that Xavi Quintilla would replace Giannoulis for one game or all three, if the appeal is unsuccessful. Jacob Sorensen was on the bench against Bournemouth and was able to resume his showing as a makeshift left back but surely it will be Quintilla.

If Hanley doesn’t make it, but let’s not forget he is as hard as nails, then Farke will have to decide between, I think Sorensen or Alex Tettey to play alongside Andrew Omobamidele in the centre of the defence. Sorensen has played there for his previous clubs and the Danish U21s, so he knows the position probably better then the old warhorse, Alex Tettey.

Up front, if Pukki isn’t fit then I imagine it will be Jordan Hugill to replace him with a fit again but not match fit, Adam Idah backing him up on the bench. As for Todd Cantwell, he looked alright as he was jumping around during the promotion celebrations on social media but if not available then I would assume it’d either be Placheta or Hernandez to replace him. Hopefully Hernandez because Placheta has been a average at best throughout the season.

Keep everything crossed that the injuries aren’t as bad as first painted and let’s get this title won!
