Norwich City U23s beat their Aston Villa counterparts 4-3 in an exciting game at Carrow Road last night as they progressed to the quarter finals of the Premier League International Cup.
The young canaries had to come from behind three times before finally overcoming a determined Villa with goals from James Maddison, Carlton Morris, Glenn Middleton levelling the scores before Diallang Jaiyesimi scored the winner in the 76th minute with a super low strike.
The win came at a cost though with Matt Jarvis, Carlton Morris and Conor McGrandles all limping off with injuries.
Jarvis had been impressive and City scored from two of his crosses but it looks like “the glass man” will be side lined again, just as a first team return looked to be getting closer and closer.
The former West Ham winger has been plagued by injury problems since he joined the club and now looks set for another lay-off. Even if he`s caught it before it really let go, he`s surely going to miss a couple of weeks at least.
In terms of the competition, the quarter finals now consist of teams like Porto, Athletic Bilbao and Manchester United so we are in good company and as ever look to have a decent set of U23s. Nice to see James Maddison back playing and scoring in a Norwich shirt as well.
