Norwich City’s U23 Development side qualified for the knockout stages of the Premier League Cup with a 5-0 drubbing of Wolves at Colney on Friday.
The young Canaries had to endure a difficult first half with the visitors pushing hard and City having to survive a succession of corners in the first half hour.
Wolves saw full back Anthony Breslin booked for diving in the area, as he shouted for a penalty in the 31st minute and then Christian Herc hit the post with a shot in the 42nd minute.
It was the hosts who took the lead though, clearly against the run of play, when Todd Cantwell scored just before half time when the ball fell to him 12 yards out after a mistake by a Wolves defender.
The second half saw three goals in the first 12 minutes as City pulled clear. Goals from Ebou Adams, a lob over the keeper from Cantwell and Diallang Jaiyesimi made the game effectively safe.
Hat trick hero, Todd Cantwell then got his third when he profited from some loose passing in the 74th minute to make the final score 5-0.
Norwich will find out on Monday if they have won Group D when Portsmouth host Everton.
