Norwich City’s U23 development side lost heavily to their Portsmouth counterparts away from home in the Premier League Cup.

A very young Canary side were dismantled by the hosts who found themselves 3-0 up at half time with goals from Nicke Kabamba and two from Jamal Lowe.

Norwich fielded triallist, Jem Karacan and he had a decent effort saved with the score at 1-0 and played for 75 minutes. However, a minute after he went off the hosts added a fourth as Lowe grabbed his hat-trick.

FT 4-0

The defeat and a 1-1 draw between Wolves and Everton sees City slip from second to fourth in Group D.

There’s obviously no word on what happens with Karacan yet and I’d assume that he’ll train with City for the next few days before any decision is forthcoming.

NORWICH CITY: Hallett; Efete, Godfrey, Crowe, Ramsay; Adams, Karacan (Fleming 75), Grant (c); Jaiyesimi, Lewis (Aransibia 73), Cantwell. Subs not used: Oxborough (GK), Kamal, Payne.
