There`s been a fair bit of speculation surrounding Alex Pritchard in the last couple of days with Huddersfield Town reported in the media as having had two bids for the former Spurs midfielder rejected by the Canaries.

Huddersfield Town manager, David Wagner has admitted he likes Alex Pritchard as a player but thinks he would be too expensive in the January transfer window.

Talking in his pre-Bolton FA Cup press conference, Wagner had this to say on the subject of Pritchard, to the Huddersfield Examiner

“If we have to bring in another player it will be an offensive player” he said.

“Pritchard is not my player, he is a Norwich player. I like him but I have my doubts if he will play for us because I know how expensive British players are in this window.”

“If we are able to get some British players in, they have to be reasonable prices. At the end it is all about quality. If it`s one new signing with the quality to help us, good. If it`s two, I`ll take two. We need to be focused on the quality.”

The quote there about “I have my doubts if he will play for us because I know how expensive British players are in this window” makes me think that he is definitely interested and let`s be honest, why wouldn`t he be?

The likes of the top six are not going to come in for Pritchard but mid to lower table Premier League sides may well do. Although he is unproven in the top flight, we all know he`s a real talent and in January especially, that is an expensive commodity.

There`s a long way to go in this month yet and I won`t rest easy until it`s 1st February and hopefully, Maddison and Pritchard are still with us.
