Here’s just a little bit more for you on the news we brought you last night about Stuart Webber’s back room revolution at Carrow Road.
Chris Badlan has left Wolves, where he was Head of Emerging Talent at Molineux.
He tweeted last night (@CBadlan): ‘Thankyou to everyone @Wolves for a fantastic 6 years – great club with incredible supporters who deserve Premier League’
Badlan is currently working his notice out (gardening leave?) and is poised to be announced by City in the near future as Webber’s new Head of European Scouting.
Kieran Scott is available, after most recently leaving Rangers with Mark Warburton, where he was part of Warburton’s scouting network. He looks set to be appointed Head of U.K. Recruitment. Previous to that, Scott was in charge of Junior Recruitment at Wolves.
Webber knows both men from his time at Wolves and the fact he has gone after them for his crucial new set-up at Norwich is telling.
I noted FC Bears comment on my original post and that’s a very valid point, let’s all hope that Webber hasn’t just hired a couple of mates. I’d be very surprised if that was the case. Yes, they’re probably mates but that’s how business works.
If you get on with someone and you trust them to get the job done then you want to work with them again. Webber has taken a bit of a gamble by leaving Huddersfield for the rebuilding job at Norwich.
He’s clearly an ambitious man and will know that if he ever wants to be doing this type of role at a Liverpool, Manchester City or Chelsea, then he needs to make a success of this latest job. He will need fairly spectacular success at Norwich to cross the radar of clubs of that stature but presumably he feels that Norwich can offer him that platform.
That’s encouraging, don’t you think?
None of us know how this will all pan out, we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope that Webber will get this right.
