Sheffield Wednesday will formally approach Norwich with a view to taking Gary Hooper on loan for the rest of the season, report the Daily Mirror and they want it sorted by the end of this week.
The red top suggest that, as reported elsewhere over the weekend that the cash rich Championship club will offer City a £500k loan fee and then cover his wages in full, which they say are £32k a week.
Wednesday have been linked with Hooper by various tabloids and media outlets all summer, so this is hardly new news. With the transfer deadline approaching though, Alex Neil will have a decision or two to make about his Premier League 25 man squad.
Who stays and who goes? Assuming that there are suitable offers. My own personal opinion is that Hooper will only leave if another striker is brought in and that player would have to be better than Hooper to make it worthwhile.
Hooper’s absence from the open training session at Carrow Road on Monday only strengthens the conspiracy theorists hands. If Hooper is involved on Tuesday night at Rotherham then I’d say we can take this with another pinch of salt – if he isn’t, well, something’s clearly happening.
